i selected the row of faces surrounding the side of the circle.
how do i extrude all the selected faces from all sides proportionally?

how do i extrude all the selected faces from all sides proportionally?
Press E to extrude and then cancel it with RMB, with the faces still selected press S to scale and then press Shift+ the axis you want to exclude.
Can also use inset, press I with the faces selected, pull it back to the default position and then hold ctrl to pull it out or in.
Could also extrude, cancel move, and alt+S, S to shrink/fatten and toggle even which moves them along normals. It’s the same as alt+E -> region (vertex normals), S to toggle even.
