Unreal Nvidia directx Ray Tracing 0_O

3.21.2018
During today’s “State of Unreal” opening session at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), the three companies presented an experimental cinematic demo using Star Wars characters from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi built with Unreal Engine 4. The demonstration is powered by NVIDIA’s RTX technology for Volta GPUs, available via Microsoft’s DirectX Ray Tracing API (DXR). An iPad running ARKit is used as a virtual camera to draw focus to fine details in up-close views.

Cool. I only need to find around 100k $ for hardware and then the world will be mine.

If you wanna know more about, read this thread: Microsoft anounces raytracing in directX12

To be fair, you can use 4x Titan V and get the same performance for around 12,000$. That’s not outrageous for a high-end workstation.

One is enough if you can live with 8 frames a second.

So its official. Eevee and cycles are both outdated

Fair enough.

finally, first hand… felt a bit fishy
got the impression from NVidia site that their $150K DGX-1 comes with 8xTeslas V100, while with P100 is around $120K)

Edit:
Oh… the DGX Station (25% off) ~$50K / most likely this kind was used

There’s already a thread that covers most of this. Let’s keep discussion on this topic over there.

Closing this one.
