Hi all!
Need some joints…I hate making joints!

current:

Looks amazing so far though  Good luck with joints

Yhanks ZavalasAgent!
Anyway, joints done… Now I’ll start unwrapping…

Very nice model, keep up the good work.

First material test…starting learning 3dcoat for textures…

Up…
Need some feedback on materials…

Good job.
Here’s my 2 cents:

  1. the white is blown out at places. Looks like you’re not rendering with filmic.
  2. the scratches are too evenly distributed
  3. the material is missing some rust at places:
  4. the torso doesn’t seem as V-shaped as the original
  5. it’s hard to tell how cool this model really is without a pose
  6. the cape please !

Thanks ChameleonScales.
Anyway:
1- Yes, I didn’t use filmic. It’s a raw render just to see the materials, non definitive lighting or postpro
2- I’ll see if I can do better!
3- I don’t want rust! Sure it need more dirt
4- the torso is right…maybe it’s a perspective issue
5- I’m working on this
3- The cape will came after the pose. I want to try cloth simulation…

maybe it’s not rust but actually oil we see on the original. Either way, I think scratches alone give a less convincing overall worn effect.

some pose tests…then I’ll make the cape and some adjustment to shaders
I like the first one…which is the one you like most?

try a more “fighting” pose. It’s a robot with an axe.

No, The fight is over, and he wins
I think this one should be good enough

I think it’s done…now the hard stuff…environment…

Cool pose but the lines that go along the whole cape make it look fake. You should use a cloth simulation instead.

your cape mesh seems high poly, so you’d be better off using the surface deform modifier with a low poly and clean version

it’s a simulation and it’s a low poly with subsurf :joy:

lol, I couldn’t be more wrong.
Still, I find this cloth motion weird, did you use a wind force with turbulence on it ?

maybe is the simulation preset. I’ve choose leather preset…this one is with other settings…and an environment attempt

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about !

I’d say the lighting on the figure is a little too diffuse. Given the background it makes sense but it doesn’t put much focus on the model.

Did you want to keep it at a toy size ?
