Modelling a Human

Hi All,

I am extremely new to 3d modeling and blender, started it last week as a new hobby.

Have made an attempt at modeling a human male, however i can’t seem to get a smooth object with a relatively low poly count. Adding a smooth modifier messes up the model and subdivide just increases the poly count. Any tips?

Would appreciate if you could give me some tips/trick around human/humanoid modelling and a good way to go about it. I started with a cube and mirror modifier and extruded the vertices. Did see some tutorials using a plane but wasn’t comfortable working with it yet.

My end goal is to make an animation with materials and shaders.
