Blender 2.8 in production

On Blender’s website it says not to use 2.8 in production. Why is this? I mean I realize it’s not stable yet, but updates are rolling out frequently. I also know they’re using it in spring. Would it be possible to just use the nightlys that the blender institute is releasing?

You can use it but you may regret it if changes cause blender/your computer to crash and not open your blend files leaving all your previous work useless. Also lack of basic features in the current stable version

I would definitely follow Richard’s – and the developers’ – advice. Until the official release happens, software can be very incomplete and in a state of flux. As they say, it is unwise to use it on any production project. “Dailies” are basically out there for testing (and collaboration) purposes, mostly among members of the team.

But, if you do, you’ve been warned.
BI got its back covered, so no complaints or legal actions for any damage done, business lost…
