First Test with Alien Character (Added Mpeg Version)

I just spent a couple hours creating a character rig for my Alien character in Blender. Thought I’d try it out and here is what I came up with for my test.

Its currently only in Windows Media MPeg 4… I’ll try and get an MPG version availalbe online soon for those not on windows.

I have a second skeleton being used as the targets for my IK in the main rig. Is there a way to see/edit IPOs for the keys? I know I can edit them in the pose mode stuff but you cant change the vectors as there are no handles in that view and no curve to see the in/out motion. Let me know if I’m not looking in the right spot.

Duh… I must not have had any bones selected while in the IPO window… Its all good now… heh… Dumb stuff… I will try and do a longer animation test in the next few days to see if my rig is up to the challenge.

I’ve uploaded a new Posed version still image. There is some wierd deformation around the top of the legs joining with the hips but I think I’ll be able to take care of that fairly easily. The bones are cleaned up now too… I’ve eliminated the need for about 20 bones. The main body deformation is much cleaner now.

Very cool character – shows great promise!
Hope to see a longer clip soon.

Chris

here here, that’s great stuff.

Just to let you know, we Linux users can view nearly every format out there these days
(on Windows you’ll have to use 3 different players (wmp/qt/real) to view a selection of formats, but we on Linux can just use MPlayer - which plays virtually anything and its dog)

Nice character btw

very promising, keep on workin’ on him!
