00 Gundam Raiser- Rendered with Freestyle

For the clean edges, I mainly used more edge loops with the subsurf modifier on level 2.
For the inner edges i applied a maximum creasing with an edgesplit modifier.

The details were edgelooped in before subsurfing and were mighty annoying as you can see in my wires. Not the most clean mesh, but it works XD.

I hope to render it in the anime’s style, hopefully a stable release of freestyle will become available, in which case i’ll try that option.

NOTE: the wire shot here has subsurf on, with optimal draw enabled

Well I’ve not done much more than what i’ve posted.

Just gotta finish the chest and back back off and then its the pelvis area. And then theres the limbs and head.

And once all thats done… i gotta start of the raiser pack lols

Ok, the chest area is now complete (might need tweaking tho).

The back is so plain because 00’s back pack goes there.

I’ve completed the shoulder pads.
And I’ve started the head. Only finished the antenas so far though.

Progress is slower as I’ve now started using blender 2.5 rather than 2.49.

This is already looking so good, can’t wait to see the legs. Even your initial blocking of shapes looks good, and with the details there’s a lot to look at. Rigging this for all those potential articulation joints will be so much fun.

Goes to show how even a simple render setup becomes truly pretty with a great model.

As for the face count so far its at 54399. not including the low poly blockings i made.

I’m on the hands now and i decided to have a quick mess with the spec and mirror settings too.

Wow, this is by far the best Gundam model I’ve seen made in Blender yet and it’s even better that it’s from 00. Excellent job!

Been real busy lately so theres not much to update on.

I have however decided to render 00 in an anime styled way using the freestyle feature thats being integrated. Below you can see a quick text I did with it.

The left is using a modified cartoon script and the right is a modified japanese brush script.
I plan to use the jap brush for the final product.

Converted more of the model to have sharp edges, so heres a render with both the cartoon and japanese brushs combined.

Decided to not have any shading for now as well.

still retouching the model for shaper edges. I’ve also applied some of the subsurfs and manually trimmed some of the edge loops that weren’t needed
