1 week

it is now 1 week before i leave for the Navy. i guess this is a good time to start the farewells.

Farewell. May you have a joyous time dancing on the deck to Village People songs.

The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
~Numbers 6:24-26

good luck mate, and may God watch over you

Regards,
~Delta

“In the Navy, yes, you can sail the seven seas.
In the Navy, yes, you can put your mind at ease.
In the Navy, come on now people, make a stand.
In the Navy, can’t you see we need a hand.
In the Navy, come on, protect the motherland.
In the Navy, come on and join your fellow, man.
In the Navy, come on, people, and make a stand.
In the Navy, in the Navy.”

The LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Thanx Delta, that mean alot.

Good luck, take care…Do you know where you’ll be stationed?

Wow, that’s scary.

On a more serious note (following Delta’s lead): John the Baptist was speaking to a crowd and being asked of the publicans and then:

And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

Luke 3: 14

Serve the Lord. Show your shipmates Who it is you are loyal to. Behave with honor and righteousness and be a city on a hill as you go on with your life.

Oh, and blend on, when you get the chance.

Good luck

Some questions:

What do you actually do in the navy when there’s not a war on?

Are you on a boat or a submarine?

Do you know anyone on the vessel already?

Have you thought about what you are going to take?
suggestions:
Healthy dose of pornography - perhaps take a palmtop (no pun there).
Something to keep you from going crazy like some sort of entertainment (a palmtop loaded with ebooks would be great).
A fold-up fishing rod.
A compass.
Enough clothes and hygiene stuff like toothpaste, deodorant, shaver.
Enough footwear is important. You can probably skip the bunny slippers though - might attract some unwanted attention.
That’s all I can think of just now.

What duties will you do on board?

Ok, that’s enough questions, I wish you all the best.

Best of luck! And remember, this is “see you later”, not “see you never”, so don’t forget to visit us once in a while, eh?

Take good care of yourself out there.

God Bless.

What do you actually do in the navy when there’s not a war on?

patrols and combat exercises for the most part.

Are you on a boat or a submarine?

Submarine SSBN

Do you know anyone on the vessel already?

i know 2 people who are in Nuke school and several others who have served on ship in the past.

Have you thought about what you are going to take?

ya, i’m taking nothing but the cloths on my back a bible and my wallet. they will send back my cloths and anything else i have with me except my bible and wallet. they issue everything i need at basic training.

What duties will you do on board?

well i feild is SECF and my job will be ET, which means i will be an electronic technition specialising in submarines.

odd questions

A sub is alright, you get paid more as a submariner. Not only do you get danger money, but claustrophobic money as well.

Before you go, you might want to watch that Das Boat movie to get into the grove of things, I hear it’s the most realistic submarine movie ever. BTW, due to the limited room in a sub and beds for that matter, is it true you take turns sleeping in each other’s stink?

I guess it has already been said before, but I bid thee farewell, and may the seas prove to be as calm as the Lord can provide. I am not one for deep thinking, but I know an old Irish goodbye that I always get a good kick out of:

“Pack it all up, this life is for squirrles, we’ll go to the pub and whistle at girls!”

Okay, it isn’t that old, but come back safe and god bless you!
