101 – 3D Animated Short Film based on Orwell's 1984

I have been in love with the book ever since I first read it. I started this project with a friend as a technical challenge to improve my 3D skills. Over the years, however, it evolved into a proper short film. I hope you enjoy it!

The film was made using Blender and Unrel Engine. If you would like to find out more about the project and the process, please visit 101film.info.

This looks crazy good. The attention to detail on the facial animation especially…so well done! Congrats!
Did you use metahumans??

Thanks! Yes, it was actually a really useful resource for high-fidelity character models and mock-up facial animations.

They are indeed super useful. Again, really good stuff! I’d love to watch it on the big screen some day :sunglasses:

That’s awesome, thank you so much!

Congratulations. It’s an impressive piece of work in terms of both atmosphere and facial expressions. It takes a lot of courage to take on such a demanding project, given the need to stay true to the original story. It’s also a fine example of how Blender (and UE) can be used in projects of this kind.
