16 or 32 bit per-channel color

I’m looking in the forums here to find anything about support for higher color depths. For instance, one nice feature of mac pro tools (Shake, Final Cut, etc.) is 16-bit or 32-bit per channel color. I’m currently working on a animation using grayscale but would like to use 16-big gray rather than 8-bit gray. Is this possible in Blender?

use EXR format, half button enabled for 16, disable for 32 bits.
