2 1/2D Spitfire

I have a STL (full 3D) model of a Supermarine Spitfire Aircraft that I would like to carve into a woodemn plaque. Proble is full 3d does not realy work and what I need is a 2 1/2 representation. Can Blender do this. Can anyone help me with my project or point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

George

What are you trying to make? What do you mean by representation? Do you want a 3D surfaced image on a wooden block? Like this one?

Exactly, thats exactly what I’m wanting to do.
Forgot to mention that I use VCARVE PRO and CUT3D. So if the model is approx 4 in diameter and set into a circular dish (bowl). It should not be much deeper than 1/4 to 3/8 inch deep.

Many thanks

Your plaque looks great.
