2.27 startup ".Blanguages" error?

I get this error when starting 2.27? “File .Blanguages not found”

I read the release notes

Did I miss something?

thanks

lilo

I was just about to post the same thing.

Win98

If I double-click the desktop icon, it launches fine, but if I double-click a .blend file from Windows Explorer (.blend file created in 2.26) I get the error message .BLanguages file not found, and eventually Blender will open, minus the top Info window.

using linux, error on first start?

using linux, error on first start?

yeah same, and no info menu up top…

I copied the .blanguages file (it’s in blender-2.27.blender) into C:\Windows and it runs fine either way now

linux users should probably try copying it to wherever .B.blend lives. Probably ~ but i’m not sure, I don’t use linux

My guess is that they forgot to make blender copy it itself, when it does .B.blend, .Bfont and the rest.

how about saving new user prefs?

mine 227 works absolutely fabulous under win98 lite installation

problems were, however with w_4 and shift_s_3 keyboard shortcuts

maybe developers would consider adding new features at THE END of

existing menus ???

you are correct, thanks phlip

copy .Blanguages to your home directory ( where .B.blend is)

you will find .Blanguages in the top 2.27 directory, its in a hidden folder so make sure you

have “view all” on

cheers

I’m using Linux and copying .Blanguages to one’s home directory works fine. At least that is where my .B.blend file lives. My guess is that it would also work if you include the Blender directory on the system Path. I’ll try that later to see if it works.

my experience is that I got that error when the working directory was not the blender directory

I’d imagine having blender in the path would work just as well as starting blender from it’s directory

This seems to be a nasty problem with the Windows packaging. This is the first time Blender has needed to reference any external files, so the developers have had a bit of trouble working out the logistics of this (which is really hard when packaging for 7 platforms…)

If anyone else has additional information, please add it to this bug report.
