2.3 Linux install

I downloaded both the static and the regualr build for 2.3 but everytime I try to run it it crashes X immediatly. I am running rh9 currently. Any ideas?

My RH9 RPMS are available on http://reblended.com/www/mshannon

These may work better for you.

Also, you need to follow very specific instructions to ensure you won’t have problems with Alpha Cursors in RH9.

Good Luck!

I will try the rpm but what is defferent about it. Do you have any idea about what might be causing X to crash on my computer in RH9?

ok now I have tried your rpm I am getting the same thing.

I have RH9 and the linux binaries work perfect on my machine.

So… I guess the problem is on your X install. What graphic card do you have?

Yes, I agree, check out the xfree86.X.log in /var/log/

May have some information for you.

Also, is it a crash and reboot, or just a crash?

Any error messages in /var/log/messages?

ok I checked it out here is teh log report from when I started blender. I am using a Matrox dual head card Mill 550

Hmm, not much action there,…

what is the crash like? a reboot? shutdown?

OK well I installed a new dual head video card and now it works. It appears that the Matrox g550 dual head card is not friendly with blender. It is a slow card because when I ran glxgears I only got like 260fps :-s with my new card I am getting 726-790fps and blender works with no problems. No more matrox cards for me

Anyways thanks man
