When I select avi codec format in the sequence editor (format window) I do not get the dialog box that normally pops up and gives you a choice of formats.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or that I just don’t know where to look for it.

Where is the filetype drop down? In the earlier versions there is a select codec button, I don’t see it in 2.3. Is this what you are refering to?

After selecting AVI Codec, the Quality slider changes in a Set Codec button. Don’t know why it’s not working for you, maybe it was broken in the official 2.3 (I’m using a CVS version).

Your right. This was a more recent version / compile that had some other bugs fixed in it. ie: notebook pad/buttons were fixed. I went back one rendition and the codec works just fine.
