2.49b -- "Bake" not finding image?


I’ve been working on an item for submission to Valve for TF2, but I’ve stumbled across a situation when trying to Bake the texture map. Even when I create a new image, pressing Bake gives me an error message “No Images found to bake to”.

After the first Unwrap + Bake to see what I’m looking at, I did find a few normals that were inverted, so I flipped them to face the correct way and then Unwrapped again. After that, the error started showing up.

Make sure you follow these steps:

  1. UV unwrap model
  2. Go into edit mode > press “A” to select all so that the UV map is active in the UV editor
  3. Make a new blank image
  4. Save the image and bake
