[2.49b] Bone roll, mirrored pose etc

Hi all,

It looks like this has been asked countless times already, but I’m having trouble when I paste a flipped pose.

I already managed to fix the fingers of my rig, but now I ran into a different problem, and I think I might know the reason too. I had to rotate the rig 90 degrees around the Z-axis. Now, when I flip a mirrored pose, the spine is flipped front/back, not left/right.

I think this is because the character is now facing the X-axis, and the “paste flipped pose” seems to flip a pose along Y and Z axis while ignoring X. Does anyone know if that is what the “paste flipped pose” does? If it is, is there any way to change it?
I already tried rotating the armature 90 degrees, then using Ctrl-N. This didn’t seem to work as I expected, whether I applied the change before rotation or not. That might have been because 2.49 has some bugs related to applying changes to armature.

AFAIK, the copy/paste flipped pose is based on local space, not global, so orientation of the rig should not affect this function if the rig was created in that the x-axis is left to right and y-axis front to back. If the copy/paste flipped pose is not working left to right, but instead is working front to back, you might want to adjust the spine bones roll angles. Works fine for me in the bone’s z-axis is forward and x-axis to the character’s right.

I’ll do that. It seems like my trouble was at least partially due to not knowing about the Ctrl-R command, so that I couldn’t manually rotate the bones.
