2.55 fbx exporter problem

Hi,

I am new here, but I have been learning blender 2.5x for a while now. I am currently stumped with a problem I am hoping someone can help me with.

I am having some trouble exporting a skinned mesh using the Fbx exporter. Exporting rigid meshes, with and without animations works fine (I am testing the data in the quicktime fbx plugin, and also 3dsmax and maya).

With even the simplest skinned mesh (I have tried both parenting and using the modifier), all I get exported seems to be the armature and the bones, but not the mesh itself. The hierarchy in Maya, for instance, is

blend_root -> Armature -> Bone -> Bone_001

I dont seem to be able to attach/link the .blend I used to generate this, but I will find a way to do so if anyone needs it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi again,

Never mind, I think I have found the stupid thing I was doing. I happened to have the armature selected in all my tests whilst exporting, and the export has “Export Selected” ticked by default. So thats why I was only getting the armature in the export!

I will change my local export_fbx.py so it doesn’t do this by default! This had been bothering me for so long, I am glad its resolved!
