First, I invented the [X.XX], as I thing it´s for now a nice way to make clear what version I talk about and I think that makes forum search easier =)
Well. Quick intro what we got:
Emiter object with vertex group, particle hair on it, dynamics on.
press alt+a, hair moves just nice.
However it seems impossible to me to setup anything that collides with the hair.
Naturally having hair on the head you want them to collide with the head and the shoulders.
Setting the body mesh to a collision object does exactly nothing.
Setting any other object to a collision object does nothing either to the hair. It just ignores all obstacles. It doesnt even seem to affect the ends of the hair, what my initial thought was.
And if you are in particle hair comb mode, is there any way to prevent the hair to be combed through the “head” ?
Either I am doing it wrong, or the hair lacks some serious usability, at least for my clumsy hairskills. You got no idea what a bad hair day is until you saw the abominations my viewport shows ^^
srsly, can it be that no one of the peeps here has any idea how to collide dynamic particle hair?
google doesn´t really bring anything or I am too dumb once again to choose the right searchterms.
It is not that I am requesting the impossible, colliding hair is one of the vital things for basically every char unless it is a bald one.
been intently watching for replies on this one too. I’ve finally taken the step to go back and “fix” the topo of my meshes. Before i made this decision i had played around with hair a bit in the 2.5 alpha. I went back and had a look at it and now my hair falls thru the head slowly when baked giving a HORRIBLE fast time lapse animation to male pattern baldness.
I’ve also noted I’m losing my skills at searching on google… i used to be able to find things.
Looking forward to seeing some answers to this one.
I thought it was a problem to have the emiter mesh as collision object as well.
But nothing really seems to work, I can´t even get dynamic particle hair to collide with a box, nor keep its basic hairstyle.
It just drops down like ghost spaghetti.
For me there are 2 possibilities:
I am doing it wrong =)
It´s not working yet as intended and therefore utterly useless atm.
