2.6 hair anti alias problem - strand hair interference at different magnifications

I have tried several different anti alias settings / strand settings for rendering high res hai r images. No luck.

It´s gonna be used for a composite image 21 megapixel 5616x3744 resolution

PROBLEM:

Then looking at scale 1:1 it looks decent and ok for my purposes

But…then I zoom out to smaller scales like 1:2 or 1:4 etc interference gets real ugly.

Scale 1:2

Blender 2.6.x (tried several diff builds from graphicall) win7 64 16 gb Nvidia CUDA card

Suggestions?

This isn’t really just an AA problem, it’s also a visual effect called a moire pattern, caused by the interaction of the close-to-parallel strands that happens even in analog imagery, but is often worsened in digital imagery because of the underlying pixel structure. It’s worst when the linear parts run very close to parallel with the pixels grid. It can be very hard to eliminate, but one approach might be to use strands with softer edges if at all possible. That means thicker strands and a lot of material experimentation. Not sure of this helps.

Ok thanks Ill try to increase diameter of the strands and maximum roundness ofcourse
