2.7 Meshes no longer see-through

Hello,
as far as I recall, in earlier blender versions, you could see the background grid through your mesh. aswell as any camera/lights.

I found, that in 2.7 I can no longer see the grid. and editor objects (like empties, cameras, lights etc) can be hidden behind any mesh. I looked through any property windows + user preferences for 15min now, but can’t find anything. google is also no help and here is no topic on that as far as I could see.

Did anybody else notice this? And if yes, did you fix it?
Here is an example:

I don’t think there ever was a version that had default “transparent” meshes…
But if you do want it, make the things you want to see (like editor objects) “Xray”.

Are you thinking of wireframe view? It’s the Z key.

you’re might be referring to pre-2.5 (and maybe early 2.5+) when the “occlude background geometry” setting was off by default. you can turn it off by pressing this button:

I don’t mean the occlude background geometry. I would like to see the gridlines and editor objects through the mesh.

Maybe I’m totally wrong, that this was possible in 2.6x, but it would be cool to have.

It can be seen when object behind an other have the occlude background geometry on in edit mode. In 2.69 I mean, otherwise no.

It can be done with transparent material in Object mode.
