So 2.78 has a new unite system with presets like inches
but then the problems are:
it is just using a scale factor
so when I switch everything to metric my small chair is not an 18 meter chair
lights with inches need not 10 for strength but more something like 100000
even with imperial and inches 2 not always then relates to 2 inches but to 650thousands or so of an inch
Instead of scaling the system just works with a scale factor and that makes it difficult
to use when you want to send data to a different app because export still is based on
the metric unite of 1.
Any idea why this was implemented this way? It feels half finished and not really working well.
For export I would use a scale factor when exporting ok - but for rendering this will breaks a lot
of light settings. Also when linking designs this breaks the scales!
IT appears to me that I need to stick to blender units if I want to keep track of .001 inches. If I put it in feet and seperate units it forgets about .001 and rounds my inches to .1 NOT OK
I also noticed I have to appy scale before doing uv unwrapping. Also when I see an object is such and such a mesuremnt and its roted a bit its only showing its measuremnts as it would fit into a box.
Today I put in 149.375" and it came back with someting 5.4 inches then when I set the units back to inches It thought my object was 3"
So something is NOT right. For now I am going pretend a unit is an inch. Cad programs see blender units as what ever units its set at when you import. Your comment on lighting is what I wonder about when I finish learnin the ins and outs of lighting and rendering I am wondering about the comment you made about
your statement(cekuhnen ) but for rendering this will breaks a lot
of light settings.
