2.79 layers emulation

Hi, does anyone knows of an addon that allows to emulate 2.79 layers in 2.8+?

Something that shows the sweet, beautiful, fast, practical, etc grid with dots masking 20 CoLleCtIoNs

I might be wrong since I don’t use it myself but I think you should try Collection Manager which is shipped with Blender, you should just enable it.
It has it’s own feedback thread here
