2.8 Alpha crashes on render

I just downloaded the Alpha version of 2.8 (2.80-b5811bccf81-linux-glibc219-x87_64) and opened a file from 2.79. I generally just use the default - Blender render engine without compositing.

When I try to render the file under Cycles - I get the background but not the figure.
When I try to render under Eevee - Blender crashes
When I try to render under Workspace - nothing seems to happen

So - is my file not opening correctly? Or do I need to use compositing to use the new engine? Or is there some configuration issue with my workstation? (I had to install new video drivers just to be able to open 2.8)

Using Fedora 28 - 64 bit
NVidia Geforce 950 with Nvidia drivers

2.8 is crashing a lot at moment, which is normal, but things are getting sorted out. https://twitter.com/PabloVazquez_/status/1015999947022495744?s=09

Just to note, the bug tracker is now open for 2.8 crash reports. Just make sure a similar problem has not been reported first.

Thanks.

but… dumb question - how to I check for existing reports?

Go to the Tasks on the left side bar and then on the new page select Edit Query on the top right.

Fill up the fields appropriately.

Some of the Eevee crashers has been fixed during the weekend. So check with a new build first.

thanks

The crash part of my render problem is fixed. I may need to wait on the rest.
