I have a few actions in NLA, but when I overlay them it only plays the top animation strip. Blend indication lines are missing from the individual strips too, let me explain:
On youtube all videos “just work,” and when they overlay one NLA action strip with another the two actions combine. In the NLA track some diagonal lines appear inside the yellow strips which indicate how much of which animation is being used/blended. Those lines are missing.
I think I saw a video of nla in 2.8 and it worked fine, so I guess i?m doing something wrong. Should I do something specific with Action extrapolation and blending in the properties (n) menu? Currently it’s set to hold/replace.

I found something though - it seems to work if you set the action up in the action editor and then press the small icon in the temporary NLA track to make it into a nla track. Pushing the “push down” or shift-A menu didn’t work, but everything else looks the same.
