2 effects Questions

  1. that strange zoom effect.
It looks like the camera is zooming a lot, but the character stays almost the same size. It is done in this blender animation at 45 seconds in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yRu2_JkdaM I have also seen it done on movies like in the mouth of maddness and some anime that I can’t remember the name of.
  2. the out of control highlights effect.
The highlights on the character are so bright that they smear into the surrounding environment, I think they used this in a scene from elephant dreams?

If anyone could tell me how to do those things or point me towards a tutorial or even just tell me what the effects are called so I can look for more information it would make me very happy.
-thanks

  1. It’s called a reverse tracking or trombone shot and is done in-camera. You zoom the lens in one direction while trucking the camera in the opposite direction. Animate both the camera’s position and its Lens setting to do this in Blender.

  2. Around here this is commonly called “glow” and it can be done in Blender with either sequencer plugins or the node editor. Search for glow in the forums.

Thanks.
