I know I will be keeping an eye on Men’s Basketball. Deron William should be starting on that team, especially with how he has been playing in the exhibition games–minus the game vs AUS earlier today.
Also, I will be staying up all night to watch the newest sport to be added to the olympics–at the expense of another sport unfortunately–BMX aka Bicycle MotoCross. I have raced BMX for almost 14 years so I know most of the riders competing from all countries. Unfortunately, one of the local pros from where I live, missed the spot by one point for the US woman’s team which only earned one spot. She worked really hard to make it and just came up short by 1 point…
If you get a chance tune in on 8/19 9pm EST to check out BMX!
At the last winter olympics, I never knew how extreme winter sports can be. There is no way I would ever do Skeleton, Luge, or Bobsleds. That is just insane! I think the summer olympics are harder to watch because, for me, watching archery, equestrian, and other skill over thrill sports, is tough.
i dont get ESPN…or the X Game Channel…but i watched last years…i cant remember who…but some dude got like 40-50 feet of air off the QP(quarter pipe) feel and his shoes flew off!!! like rockets…i guess if his shoes wouldnt have flew off he would have died…his name has ------ Braun or somthing like that( idk his fist name)
I GUESS BASEBALL IS GOING TO THE OLYMPICS TOO??? WHY!!! ITS LAME!!!(sorry baseball fans)
I’ve heard people say that extreme sports don’t belong in the olympics, but it appears that the Olympic committee are interested… IDK about skateboarding though…
Anybody, is this too extreme for the olympics?
The big jumps you see in the center of the picture is the second straight for the men, just to the left of it is the womens.
I believe this is a 40’ jump over the turn that the women ride though (instead of jumping over it).
While this is a little bit crazier than a normal BMX track, they have to make the jumps this big because the Men are going about 40-44mph at the bottom of the 3-story starting hill.
The purpose of BMX racing is to be the first person around the track (1-lap).
not gonna watch the Olympic at all. I’m basically boycotting it cause of the management fiasco that china are having with it. Try to look up on how China have been limiting water usages in surrounding villages just to have enough for visitors. There have been tons of similar situation in and around Beijing like this.
They are basically destroying the surrounding villages for a long time just to have a good olympic. sure the olympic is important but not THAT important.
You know, the puppies on the “Puppy Superbowl” are pretty much all dead now. One of them had a disease or virus or something and it spread to the other puppies. They were all dead a few weeks after the show. A couple of them might have survived… I can’t remember…
I will be watching neither the Olympics nor Puppy Deathbowl 2008. I don’t watch TV, but I just know that 80% of the crap on my news websites will end up being a bunch of BS about the Olympics or China (the latter is already happening). China - as already pointed out - are also doing some pretty evil shit in the name of the Olympics. I might turn them on if the unrest in China floods into them somehow, but if they’re just the normal olympic events, then I could do without the wasted time listening to announcers pretend they know anything about strategy in a hurdle race or something.
Considering if the Chinese turn the Olympics into a Propaganda machine and all the stuff happening now, this could be an Olympics that has a bit of parrelel to the Olympics in Nazi Germany in the 30’s.
I don’t care too much for the rest, but i’ll be OBSESSING over judo in the olympics. Besides playing the sport myself, I have a good friend who is ranked number 2 in the country in her divsion (70kg), and almost made the olympic team at the trials.
