Here is my entry.
It took me 5 or 6 hours. I used Blender and photoshop (for the text and brightness/contrast tweak).
I’m sure I’m not gonna win, because I’m still new with blender (not only because @ndy is in…), but anyway, I wanted to do it.
I choose the earth elemental.
Here it is:
See you, dudes.
IS
PS: I made great sketches preparing this render, but it turned out to be too difficult for me to model it. Believe me it makes me realy sad :’(
Ok, so here is my picture. It is my first contest ever and must say that I enjoyed it every minute.
I call it Fury of the mighty ones, can not think out anything better then notorious well known fight between fire and water.
Exept textures of snake and stones it is pure Blender, all other textures are procedural.
I also used Photoshop to combine two renders with different render and lighting settings to get better anti-aliasing while still good contrast.
I worked on it whole night, in sum 16 hours 35minutes (well 36, but it sounds better, doesn´t it )
You can also see full size image in best quality here (300kb)

well, not really done, but Its getting close and I’m getting too tired. be kind to me!
ps:primary element is earth, though water is visible at corner (think tantalus), fire is sunlight+fire ants, and air is, well, those ants gotta breath, don’t they?
pss:made 100% in blender from scratch, took around 12 hours, one image map used (layered onto procedurals)
bye.
EDIT: here’s another view, so you can see how crappy the -ahh-um- firespiderants (heh) really are. and also, so you can see how sad the earth elemental is:
Only finished modelling 1 hour before the deadline, so the texturing and lighting’s not so good, but oh well…
The element is fire, slighty asian looking dragon inspired by a beautiful koto concert I attended last night here it is:
edit: here’s a link to a screenshot of the model on its own (i quite like it looking ‘bare’ :))
ok, cant competite with slikdigit, but here’s mine:

and this is a detail shot:

I chose the element water
Had much fun with trying to fake sss
Tools used: blender, gimp.
ciao,
Henrik
wow, that is amazing, i think that you should work on the bugs and the water, at first glance, other than those, it looks almost photorealistic
wow very very very nice i like this a lot!! I think the water texture is fine, although the transition from the light color to the dark one should be softer. the fire ants could use better texturing too. but the models are great IMO, so is the esrth texture.
OK, my joke entry:
Element: Molebdynum (with a +39 charge)
Modelling time: 10-20 minutes
Rendering time: 10-20 minutes (it could have been a lot less, but I decided to mblur the electrons)
Aahh, it feels nice to enter a 24hour challenge with a 30minute entry
bloody hell!!! Slikdigit, you’ve got my vote… well at list until something better comes up
Philip I think the ionization energy required to create such ion is… well almost impossible
Well, its a an arm of a mechanoid, playing with a ball of water in zero gravity.
The model is a subsurf at 36000 triangles before subdivision, the textures are all procedural, a bit of postprocessing was done in photoshop for blur and glow…
and special thanks to xwarrior for hosting the image
here is mine
Since the dawn of time, man has given form and shape to the elements, imbuing them with personailites and character.
This is my version, she is a fire spirit, enjoying a calm moonlit night .
I used blender, a few texture images and photoshop to add some noise.
Eldron, yours is amazing. Fantastic piece. It gets my vote.
Well, my entry. I’m not happy with it and I’m still a total noob at blending. Used Blender and Fireworks MX. This is my first competing work ever. But I promised @ndy that I would enter :D. So, here it is.
The 5th Elemental
Once upon a time, 4 elements were created to coexist - fire, water, earth and air. These elements made up our world. Only the most powerful wizards could bend these elements to their will and summon creatures known as elementals. Now those times have passed and humans have lost their ancestors’ skills. But at the dawn of the new millenia, a new and different elemental has been created - yet this time not by the hand of god, but by the hand of man.
