A few days ago I saw a topic that called people to make a redesign for Elysiun, so I made one, ather some c&c people didn’t like the banner, they asked for a real blender render to show what blender can do. Afther trying to make one, I realised the Blender community had a Blender babe to promote blender, but this was just for the game engine. It’s sad to saw that girl dying, and now she’s gone. I also visited Nividia’s website and saw they made a babe to, to promote the company.
I also visited the work in progress topic, and saw some people are working on a woman, so that made be thinking of organising a contest. I’ll try to get the moderators of blender.org, and blender3d.org to put the winning model on the website to promote. Also a render will be included into the new Elysiun design, which I hope it will be accepted by Elysiun itself. Down here some info about it

ofcourse the best you can model.
clothes included with a blender logo on it, design your babe clothes.
must be poseable with armatures.
included textures or materials to make a finished render of it.
render the best posemode to charm the community for a vote.
I hope it is a good idea to start a contest again in this topic, instead of the contest topic, because the most modelers are most of there time in here. When there are enought people in for a challenge, the contest will official start.
This is just a fantastic, unbelievable interesting, funny idea. I want to participate in such an challenge. But please choose a good timeframe. We don’t want to press the people to create something crappy. This should be cool…
I actually think I will participate in this one. Even though I’ve never done a human body in Blender before, I’m sure I can manage this. I best start finding some good tutorials on armatures or something… LoL
I looks great to see some people have intrests in this contest. I still have to find out a deadline, but so far I know, it will give you a couple of months to make one, because we don’t need a hurry, it’s not about the winner, who finished his or her model first, but about quality, it mean we have to make something that says: “Kickass Awesome blender model, render”
First I just want so see if more people are really planning to make time for it, and when there’s enought intrest in it, we start. 8)
im more in favor of a good gallery with a variety of images to promote blender’s quality. I don’t think a ‘mascot’ other than suzanne is needed, and i think nVidia has way overdone it. that fairy was good for the initial demonstrations, but im getting really sick of it now.
Additionally, I dont think Blender needs such an obvious appeal to sex to get an audience. I’m not against a few babes in the gallery, but i would be hesitant to put one on the splash screen and in the main elysiun banner, especially if she’s as well dressed as the nVidia one. %| I would like to be able to load up blender when my girlfriend is in the room without getting slapped.

It already has promoted blenders power in 3d World magazine and Landis has also written tutorials
Could put a little blurb underneath one of his pictures “Just imagine how good he would look if he were raytraced”
I agree with NateTG and bjornmose.
Considering the format of a banner this could easily lead to a image looking sexist to many people. Not to forget that it would better be of a quality comparable of the nvidia fairy or what Stahlberg puts out. Who can do that anyway?
It would be better to change the contest into: modeling something (anything) to promote blender.
But then again there’s still Modron’s idea of ‘plugging’ images in the banner area (like on cgtalk, allthough it’s positioned different there).
And a single, strong image could be very distracting, being boring in no time.
Afther seeing all the post I decided to do the following, I’ll update the first post when everyone agrees with it. Ok here it comes.
The contest won’t have a specified model, you can model anything, but it has to be a character. So you’re able to model a monster, friendly person, babe, knight or whatever in the best quality you can render. Everyone who joined the contest will make a chance his or her model is going onto the blender3d.org, blender.org or splash screen in blender. Ofcourse the winner will get the fame, that his char has won, and will be the first into a splash screen (hopefully) So all I have to do it contacting Ton, the moderators of blender3d.org and blender.org. also there will be family render made with all chars on it for blender promotion.
Next idea I got, but not impossible is to donate the render to the e-shop for a poster format to buy, ofcourse the money will be donated to the foundation, and maybe a reward will be made for the contest members, but I’m not sure of that. Maybe some blender mousepads would be nice too, or on a t-shirt, but that’s what I have to ask. Anyways, all this isn’t impossible, I’ll really try it to give the members of the contest when it starts the afther joy to see there chars appearing somewhere on stuff or websites.
I don’t really think it’s a very good idea… do max or maya have babes/characters to promote them? No, just some freaking realistic and original examples… Blender has plenty of them… especially from @ndy, landis and Robertt. My favorites are: Airman, Create (both by landis), lox the goblin, Ice Troll’s mountains (both by @ndy) and the more recent Blossom (by Robertt). There are also some great cars, like the mustang just done by speedtiti, and a while ago the incredible realistic mini… also basse and nico have some very impressive stuff, like the baby dragon.
And then I’m not pointing out all those other great things made with Blender…
I guess what I’m saying is that there maybe should be a more appealing Blender gallery, because the one now on blender3d.com just really isn’t up-to-date anymore…
If i am understanding bentagon right, I agree with him. As I said before, I think blender needs a good gallery more than a character. I would like to see a general call for content for the gallery. I think nothing would promote blender better than blowing everyone away with some awesome pics, (babes/chars can be included, but there should be a large variety of styles and subjects) but I dont know if a mascot is necessary.
I do like this idea as a contest to get some good blender work out there.
Thinking… Maybe a char wouldnt be so bad, but I dont think it should become a permanent “mascot.” It would be cool to have a variety of characters in a variety of styles. These could be made into several banners which could be used for elysiun or blender.org or whatever. It doesnt necessarily even have to be a character, i think.
Basically, I think we need to get good blender work out there for people to see. SysAdm’s gallery is great, but I find it really slow.
Yep that was my idea, having a couple of chars, not only one char mascot, but more. Also it would be awesome to see them into a background or world. It just depends on the modeler, if he wants only a char or a whole world included a char.
I must admit I’m less interested in a banner than having a working gallery section again. I think a gallery section and a community journal on this site will do far more to promote Blender.
hey! this is really forming to a cool contest. I’m so in it now since the range of entry items is nearly unlimited now. I’m still going to do a character though… that’s what my sketches have been for since I said I’d participate in this if it gets off the ground, and I’m not changing now!! LoL
I do say though that we should bring back a working gallery section and definitely the community journal!!
They would do great things to promote Blender. Having the journal would help keep Blender-heads, such as myself, from getting annoyed with the lack of information that can sometimes present itself at times. SUCH AS THE BLENDER GUIDE WHICH I’M STILL NOT CONVINCED IS EVER GOING TO GET OUT BEFORE MY 80TH BIRTHDAY!! (57 1/2 years from now!!)
