3D Movie Making Workshop (Ukiah CA)

Hi All,

We are hosting a 3D animation day-long event here in Ukiah CA, USA. I worked at Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) for five years and left after Star Wars: Ep 1, (yes you can find my name in the credits, as well as me as an extra if you look real close in some crowd scenes) to raise my family in this small town. I’m looking for two things: people who would like to present and or be on a round table, as well as discovering people’s interest in coming to Ukiah to participate and learn.

The focus will be on 3D animation and movie making. I am talking with people from ILM, Pixar, Digital Domain, Dreamworks, Weta and Sintel. The first half of the day will focus on what it takes to get an animated movie made as well as getting a job in the industry, and the second half will be a walk through using Blender from character sketch to final render.

To cover costs there will be a $100 charge for the day which includes lunch.
A portion of the profits will go back to the Blender Foundation.

Please spread the word as I’m trying to build a local network for more production work here in Northern California as well as starting a Blender User Group.

Thanks

Sounds awesome, would love to come but unfortunately I live in Sweden and am unable to travel anywhere until school finishes.

Also the entrance fee is a bit beefy :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck with this though.

Arcata isn’t too much further up the road and is a lot nicer than Ukiah.

And no, I’m not biased because I’m a Humboldt alumnus.

That’s interesting. I hail from the SF Bay Area originally. Where and when are you planning to hold this workshop?
