3d texture painters

i remember finding something a while back like this

basically what it was this software where you can import .obj files into and other formats as well. and then you can dynamically paint textures on it, such as with a tablet… (you basically draw the texture onto the mesh)

if any 1 know what im talking about or some software that can mimic this, can you please tell me

I think it’s called blender v2.43 :]

you can texture paint in blender, but you might be talking about deep paint 3D or tattoo

yea it was called deep paint 3d

i would like to do that in blender, but its not to great at it

if i remember correctly deep paint had an option to put a UV map on an object then dynamically change the uv map while its on the object itself

any idea where i can get a link to tattoo as the one i found doesnt work http://www.terabit.nildram.co.uk/tattoo/

possibly if used in conjunction with deep unwrap, but not by itself. basically, what deep paint 3D does, is gives you several channels in which you can paint in at once, depending on how you set up your brush. one for color, one for spec, one for bump, etc. It has lots of presets, most of which simulate natural media, and you can also make an ‘image pipe’ that affects multiple channels as well. it also takes advantage of projection painting, vector curves, selection masks, and various other cool stuff.

yeah my link for the tattoo site seems to be down too, maybe check and see if their forum still exsists. it was a freeware, that the programmer made on his own time, so he might have stopped developing it or something.

the whole deep unwrap and paint software costs a bundle, and i don’t feel like pirating it offa something, as far as i know tattoo is free ware or something and all i need is just basic features for this, not some crazy amounts like zbrush

well, blender is pretty good for texture painting these days. I recently wrote some documentation on it that should be available soon.

You may also like to try Zbrush. I downloaded the demo and the program seems to be somewhat awkward.
