Hi,

Im trying to import a 3ds file about approximatly 1mb and am getting a python script error up and check console. The console says,

Checking for installed Python… got it!

Can anyone help?

Just use OBJ or LWO. They work fine. Even if you do get 3DS files to import, half the time the parts are scattered all over the place.

my obj exporter doesnt seem to translate the models that good. some objects disappear. I tried it on a obj exporter in sketchup.:frowning:

I am also interested to know what to do with badly importing 3DS files.

Thats me now tried saving the model in another program with the 3ds, lwo and obj format. None of them worked. Some looked as though it had loaded but nothing was on the screen. Any suggestions?

Sometimes on import models come in very small. Try blindly pressing the S-Key to scale them up. Especially if you still have the default cube in your scene. They might just be inside it.

or the model may end up far from the origin. delete the default cube and hit home to “see all”

i use the 3ds importer a lot. it works well. it has an option "size constraint which allows you to control the scale.

what app are you exporting from?
