Is there any way to import 3ds files into Blender?

I believe it is under the scripts window already… most import and export scripts are.

EDIT: nope, not a default script

Methinks I recall reading that it is broken for modern versions of Blender, and so is not currently distributed with.

Need a bit more info if you would.

What is it you’re trying to import? A simple static mesh or an animated object? What app are you using to create the original 3DS file? IS the object UVWmapped? What?..
