Ok, so this one took me a while, but the main issues where trying to get around the rendering times. My poor computer would crash after about 1500 frames for some reason, so I had to chop up the rendering. This made it a bit difficult and resulted in some glitchy animations, but it’s all learning.
The other thing I learnt was that it’s best to just do the whole animation and bake the dynamic hair cache if you want to render in stages. I also need a better CPU!
Render to images like PNG or JPG, then assemble those into a movie after. If you have issues with crashes after certain # of frames during production, break up scene into different camera angles and use that to hide glitches between sections.
Cheers for the advice guys. Trepaning, this is actually a method I used for this animation. I think if I did it next time it would be a lot smoother. Some guys over at Reddit also said I should do all the sound editing post-render, so there isn’t any funny business in the syncing.
Just downloaded Audacity for some sound editing. Anyone else use this?
I do everything with Blender, GIMP and Audacity. I do sound editing before anything so I have the timing down, then add effects after. Personally, I would never do the sound editing post-render, as I build from audio out.
