4.2 unable to compile shaders

I have been trying to learn NPR for a while using Blender 4.2 but I’m confronted with many obstacles.
First, it takes an unnecessarily long time to compile shaders (I mean minutes when it’s supposed to be the fast render engine)
This is bad enough but it also fails to


and the same nodes no change work perfectly fine and almost instantly in Blender 4.1

Is there something I’m doing wrong? I’m using 4.2.0 is there any update I missed?

Have you set use multicore in compile shaders in the preferences ? I dont rememberwhat its called exactly, butit speeds up the compilatiin

Blender 4.2 is not good for NPR. Eevee was rewritten to be more like Cycles, but many NPR features had to be diminished or sacrificed to make this possible. At some point, Blender will have a new NPR engine, but until then, you should use 4.1

I’ve had it go pink like that if the node tree gets too complex.
