4 simple questions, 1 difficult question

I have a number of simple questions

  1. How do I control where my .obj imports come in at?
  2. Is there a way to use snaps? I’m building an architectural model and it needs to be exact
  3. Why do my .obj imports come in with a point element far off to the side that I cannot get rid of? It’s making rotating and zooming nearly impossible
  4. What beginner book would be recommended for somebody who’s brainless when it comes to Blender but not computers in general?
  5. Where oh where has my little dog gone? Oh where oh where can he be?

I’m an architect that’s getting very frustrated by the lack of the baby steps tutorials. If there are any out there other than the excellent ones at blendercookie I’d appreciate being pointed their way.

If think this could help you with the 4th question : http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro
The “Unit 1: Knowing Blender” is perfect for beginners.

Sorry for your dog. I asked google how to find a dog and found that : http://www.wisegeek.com/how-can-i-find-my-lost-dog.htm
Good luck ! ^^

Thanks for the links. And don’t worry about the dog, he was useless anyway. Dumber than a bag of hammers and ugly enough to scare the dumb out of a blond

It seems that everything shows up where the 3d cursor is placed!

oops and shift S brings up a snap menu.

Thank you. This is the kind of simple thing that is driving CAD jockeys like me nuts. It’s so simple yet so difficult to get the information we need to start working.
