9/11 Moment of Silence

Hey Everyone.

As many fo you know, 6 years ago today, there were three(four?) major terrorist attacks on the United States of America, and Id like to ask you all to take a moment of silence for the victims(and their families) of this horrible event.

Thanks, godbless(or whatever diety you prefer, if any),
Drew

My condoleances for the families of the victims

Same here. What happened was terrible, and should never happen again. Unfortunately, I think it will happen many more times.

no doubt history will repeat itself it aleays does in some way or a nother. But yea it was a sad day for every one here in the us.

I wouldn’t discount that it was a sad day in a good part of the world. Canada was another, for example.

A moment of silence for them and their families.

Amen to that.

I think that to turn 9/11 into some national (worldwide?) day of mourning is a fallacy and the general intentions behind them seem politically driven as demonstrated in this clip:

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/05/14/family-guy-lois-griffin-adopts-republican-talking-points/

I’m not saying anyone here is politically motivated btw.

By all means propagate whatever degree of real sentimentality there is here if it makes you feel any better but I object to it and I’m sure I’m not alone in that statement. I feel it cheapens the whole event and is surely worse for the victims who are trying to move on with their lives.

Should we mourn the loss of loved ones? Sure but there are a huge number of tragedies happening across the world and to continually focus on one event is just wrong and rather narcissistic.

Even tragedies that occurred as a result of natural events such as in New Orleans and Indonesia that were orders of magnitude worse in terms of loss of human life for some reason pale in comparison to this relatively minor tragedy where the victims received substantial payments while the survivors of these other tragedies will probably live in poverty for the rest of their lives.

We don’t just mourn the loss of life, but the actions of mankind that took that life. Leave the politicos out of it, they aren’t worth the breath (or typing space).

thanks osxrules,
I was just thinking the same thing.

It is tragic all the people who died in the buildings.
I find it more tragic that there is not as much propaganda about the men and women still dying because of this.
It seems that from our military actions , we are going to get a quite a few more deaths in the future.

So I give a moment for the 9/11 victims, and I also give a moment for all those who are going to die in the present and future.

I also give a moment to all the people who are crippled from the war, and whos own government is turning them away from proper medical treatment.

I would also like to give a moment to the people who responded to the 9/11 demolition, who are currently dying without medical treatment.

I would also like to give a moment to the thousands of people suffering from respiratory problems, because they where told it was safe to go back to work in the area .

Hopefully after the next USA elections, we can get a leader in power that will make the killing stop, and that can offer medical treatment to the living.

(don’t even get me started on the thousands that die every year on our roads and highways , wonder why those people never get a holiday or recognition named after them.)

Not exactly the most suitable thread title. I mean how exactly can it be a moment of silence?

Well anyway, I’ll take the opportunity to offer my condolences to anyone who might have lost someone in the attacks.

Name one other way to stop the terrorist organizations that attacked us.

Name one other way to stop the terrorist organizations that attacked us.

That is not my job.

If any terrorist are reading this they are probably laughing out loud at the big gaping hole they put in America’s heart. (And there are still lots of terrorists, and millions more people who simply hate everything about America.)

We need to move on, but I don’t see any problem with starting a thread every year in honor of the lives lost.

Mmph!, that is the political position of about 99.9% of Americans. Please give a thought for another solution before trashing the current one. Tynach is right.

that is the political position of about 99.9% of Americans

Sounds like a Fox news Poll.
Where did you get your number?

It was just an expression.

And criticizing the current situation is?

But nevermind. I don’t really have a solution either.
I just get tired of hearing the same old argument.

Name one other way to stop the terrorist organizations that attacked us.

Here’s the brilliant answer:

Hopefully after the next USA elections, we can get a leader in power that will make the killing stop…

See, just make the killing stop. So easy!

Don’t you mean faux news?

Please stop trying to bring politics everything. This is a time to mourn the loss of life and how it was taken, not re-state your opinion for the 8th time why you don’t like our government. I’m sure that those who lost loved ones will appreciate it.

I won’t forget.

Alden, politics are only man’s way of of trying to understand the reality of what is really going on. In reality, more than 3000 people died in a horrific example of what we can do to each other, such fun eh? I ask for an end to it and I would appreciate your wishes for the better as well. My goodness, we can do so much better!
