900k trees :D.. with blend file

this is how many trees you have… i set it to 1 to make the file smaller
the render was set at 900000

i like it. blender could certainly be much more powerful, but this is testament to how far it has come

all of this fit in my 1gb gpu for rendering
it was about 34 billion 200 million triangles

Are You sure about those numbers? 34 Billion is an awful lot, I don’t think there’s a desktop graphics card which can handle that much, let alone a 1 gig card.

You can fit 900K trees in one gigabyte of memory because of how they are all instanced from a single object.

With instancing, the actual mesh only has to be stored once due to the copies simply being references to the original (with the only additional info being the transformation data). Memory usage will still increase with more instances, but the rate will not even be close to how it would be if they’re all unique.

As for image, right now it looks to be more of a tech demo than something that’s truly finished, perhaps you can try to turn it into a full environmental render with everything textured and shaded.
