A Bathroom

Here is some pics of a bathroom I have been working on for an animation. I’ve still got to model a shower head, put some water in the bath and maybe a dripping tap. Also some proper wood textures and maybe a border in the tiles.

Also, the mirror does not act the way it should, especially when the camera pans over it. And the Mirror material is not supposed to be on the side of the cabinet.

something needs to be done about the tiles. a bump map should be good enough, especially if you’ll be giving them a proper border.

and i think lower the reflection just a little bit on the porcelain.

beyond that, and the mirror which you’ve mentioned, it looks good to me.

are you planning on making a short film or what?

what kind of style are you going for in this render?

Any plans to add a shower curtain? The new cloth system of 2.46 is fairly simple to use and you would be able to animate it too. Regardless, everything looks pretty good so-far. As far as materials, you can assign different ones to vertex groups to fix the problem with the sides of the cabinet. Aside from that, I think making the walls of the sink and bath just a bit thicker might look more realistic. Keep it up!

I am making a short film - about 20 mins I think the script will go for. As for the shower curtain, I wanted the bathroom to look as sterile as possible, so was not going to add one. The style is probably semi-realistic. The story takes place after the characters are dead, so they are some-what skeletal and gray. But it is essentially a light hearted story.

Yeah, I had two different materials on the cabinet, but accidentally screwed it up. I’ll play with the reflection a bit on the porcelain and add a border and upload some more pics tomorrow. Thickening the walls on the tub and basin is a good idea, thanks all.

P.S Anyone point me in the right direction for a fluid tutorial for 2.46? or has it not changed and the old ones still current? For some reason I’m scared of physics/fluid/particles and have barely touched them.
