Hi
does anybody build bicycles on their own here?
I would need some advise for height proportions etc.
I was trying to google a bike design store but did not really find anything.

Hey yeah I build bikes in my free time. If you got any questions ask
I would need an US store - should have mentioned that since it is for here.
fit a bicycle lol I would never have imagines the word fit but it makes sense now!
thanks jay
You are so brave to build a bicycle yourself… Good luck!
no no - I want to work on a concept bike but realized I have no clue about all the frames and models which are out there. Thus looking through a shop I thought might be faster for the research. Where I am there are only Walmart solutions which are not that useful.
If you want to look at the different designs that are available in a bike shop, maybe try American Cycle and Fitness? I’ve not been in one of their stores, but they seem to have a large variety of bikes and components judging by their website.

The Walled Lake/Novi location might be the closest to you. If you’re near 96, you could probably get there in in 20~30 minutes.
What kind of bike are you looking at building? Downhill bike, dirt jumper, cross country mountain bike, road bike, cruiser bike, utility bike, town commuter, etc, etc, etc?
That would be the best place to start. Each of those has very distinct geometries that determine how each rides. Like the angle of the head tube will drastically change how a bike rides, as will the wheel base length.
You might check this article here: http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com/Frame_Geometry.html
Also try a google image search for “bike geometry” for a load of visual reference.
I love bikes, raced for a better part of my life. My last office was also above a bike shop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (which the owner is still one of my best friends)! If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know.
key words darn I am always missing so many key words for google.
Frame geometry - such a logical step argh …
Anyway it is a city bike concept.
Thank
Yeah, sometimes it hard to know what exactly to search for!
I’m sure you’ve probably heard of this blog: http://www.core77.com/
But I always see tons of cool bike concepts from all over the world they post there.
Don’t know how much this applies, but this site is absolutely comprehensive on fixing/maintaing Bikes, may help out a bit. http://bicycletutor.com/
I know what a bike is but what the value of a bike is I do not.
Thus just drawing an image or concept is pretty much useless
when it is not based on some hard facts.
If it looks good but can easily break or has bad ergonomics it is
pretty useless. The work will be for my new portfolio.
Since English isn’t my native language it is somewhat difficult to know
how to look for something - even when Google is good today.
I very much appreciate the help here guys. I have to do a lot of reading now.
When the bike is done I will post it
