…i’m not even gonna ask what that thing on the right is… or, it’s left… or, whatever…
…um… never mind… i didn’t see the string coming out of the fish(?)… i see now…
and now…?
Fmurr
lol I can see that fish.
This is a pretty good pic, fmur!
The only thing is that it looks like a mouth underneath the beak, but actually the beak should be the mouth. So maybe if you could get the beak to somehow be smiling, that would look better.
i agree with baboon it looks like there is a mouth there and it looks like you have done the beak as a nose correct me if i am wrong thats what it looks like from the 2nd pics point of view
Hé hé nice render,
you are very good with particules (or Fiber script) configuration…

Hello again ,
What about this one ?
- Mooth out
- few changes on fins
- fishing thread bigger(not sure its a good idea?)
what do you think about?
do I have to change the background for a more unified one?
Regards
Fmurr
i really like it… how did you make the fur?
don’t change anything, it’s very unique and weird style.
like in some of those children picture books.
I like it. muchos.

The old manner,
copying the original mesh, a bit scaling to enlarge this copy,
and adding to it some particles
then putting a material using some halo textures
and that 's all
happy you like it
thanks and regards
Fmurr
WOW I really like that! That is beautiful! I’m not sure which I prefer,…the ice with the diamond pattern is nice, but the first type is quite nice too. And I have to agree with these other guys,…it is very storybookish. I shall go and attempt to reproduce your particle effect this moment.
Wow very nice plumage!
Well I got something resembling fur. =>
<image taken down so sorry! :P>
mine still looks a bit more like a firecracker than fur though. any advice?
This is a nice piece. Neat character. I really like the look of the background ice in the first picture.
The fur on you charcter looks GREAT
You could make the black part of your fur a bit lighter it will give your charcter a bit more depth i think. And i actualy like the old beak better, the only thing thats wrong with it is that there is fur between the nose bit and the lower beak bit so they look separate instead of one beak. And you will be able to make your character talk with the old beak.
MadMesh
In your example material seems to be good,
i should say that you have to work the lighting before
anything else.
here below the way i do:
-Concerning the fur material:
the texture should be better with halo and shaded activated.
you also have to adjust halo size, and the Alpha and hard of the material that are very important for the fur look ; because it allows to set the way the halo goes fading to transparency from the center to the border to simulate the thickness of the hair/fur.
depending on the distance from the camera and the lens too.
-Concerning the mesh/fur:
it is placed in it’s own layer with it’s own layered lights, 2 or 3 depending on the scene lights you alreday have .
-the mesh underneath lets call it the mesh/skin is of course very close the fur/mesh but placed in another layer with the scene
lighting.
And the trick i found is to add a transparency in the Skin/mesh material in order to softening the border of the mesh in a way
that the passage from the skin to fur is better.
For the rendering i put unified renderer on.
Hope it helps, regards
Fmurr :o
Sorry for the double.
Fmurr :o
lol, that pengiun with the fur just looks great
from which contaminated lake did that fish come, or he lived in mercury or they did he adamantium inplant on him, for it loooks metallic
cute! I like it a lot! the penguin’s feathers (NOT fur! it’s a bird! ) are great! the fish is a bit metallic looking, but the overall pic is great. can’t think of anyything to change with it.
