Well I did gloss over that. It would have taken an hour to go through all of the decisions at various points.
The truncated version is that the seed was planted back in 2005. I had the idea to move to another country and work remotely as an expat freelance artist. It just so happened that a friend at around the same time was telling me about his trips to Thailand.
Selling my art in NY in 2006 was exiting and sucessful but it was time consuming. I wanted to figure out how to work online. So in 2007 I did research on the cost of living in Thailand, got my life in order so I could travel.
By 2008 I had saved some money and I was ready to go to Thailand to build a freelance career, work remotely and eventually open a studio.
It took 3 years to be working full time remotely as a freelance artist by 2011 and another 3 years by 2014 to be in a position to open a small studio and hire artists.
It was a very rocky road at first, and it is still a fight. But we are making it.
That is the very simple and short version of the story.
