I started using Blender a week ago and now I’m working on a mining equipment simulation. I have gotten my vehicle to stop instantly, but I would like to know how to improve it in two ways:

Make a delayed stop (using some sort of system timer?)
An algorithm like: ‘reduce the speed by half every second and then when speed is really low then stop’ is what I’m aiming for. -
Is there an easy way to set up the logic bricks so that if the player holds the brake the vehicle will go nowhere?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
