A different effect

(VelikM) #1

I was playing around and found a new/different effect. I used booleans to make the initial object, and when I rendered the wire(set to wire in materials) object with SubSurf set for the render this happened.
http://www.alaskalights.com/blender/pages/booleans.html this is with SubSurf set to 1, it gets really busy if I set it any higher, the object in the back is rendered with out SubSurf.

Yeah, that looks like a typical Catmul Clark pattern on a triangulated mesh.

nice

PS: If you hadn’t posted that link, I don’t think I’d ever recognize you with that new nickname MikeV…

Well that makes sense. But for all of the times I’ve rendered SubSurf’d objects this is the first time I’ve seen the pattern render. And in other tests on unboolean meshes all I get is a finer square mesh with out the pattern. The only time I get the pattern is after a boolean operation.

page seems to be down for me

I’ve tried it with IE, NetScape, and Opera. It seems to be working now. My server/IP may have been down, much to my annoyance they do tha t now and then, mostly when I’m trying to ftp files/pages.
