A few questions about working with hairs

So I started working with hairs today and came to a few difficulitys. I’m basicly using this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L3wq6d26yI

  1. In the video you always see the grid of the mesh(also in particle and object mode) how do I turn this on? looks like that for me: https://gyazo.com/e5c6027a1d08697b3351bc570636769a

  2. When i add children to my hair they “spawn” like everywhere on the mesh. I’d like to have them somewhat closer to the “controll-hair”. is there an option to do that?

  3. Is there anyone who has already worked with hairs and would give me his skype name so i can quickly send some questions as they occur? I know there will be much more questions, so that’s be great.

  1. change max draw type to ‘wire’
  2. change to simple children, lower the radius , increawe clump, increasing threshold bring the clumped hair to a point (almost like matted fur)


very nice, thank you :slight_smile: Just one more thing: Is the 2. thing also possible with interpolated children? didnt find those options there.

By increasing clump on interpolated children and lowering the shape closer to -1, you can get a similar look, playing with threshold and random can help too.
