So im finally animating my first test of my character (in blender), and after a few seconds I ran into a question that made me stop animating for a while. Ive seen this question before and did search this forum to find it again but failed so here is the question (again sorry):
How do I freeze the mesh so I only select the bones ?
Its a very used and useful feature and im sure it must be available in this already flexible 3D app … rite ?
thanks in advance to the guy/girl with the answer !
Err… “How do I freeze the mesh so I only select the bones ?”… I’m not sure what that means exactly … If you go into Pose Mode with the armature selected then it is kind of hard (for me any way) to select the mesh and not another bone …
If you are having problems accidentally selecting the mesh instead of the bone you want you might just consider putting the armature and mesh on separate layers and use the numbers on the keyboard (not the Number Pad) to toggle between layers (and use Shift + keyboard numbers to toggle more then one layer at a time) .
Hope this helps . But I am not sure what freezing the mesh means …
Edit : Actually there is a way through the Outliner to restrict the selection of the mesh … Just toggle the little arrow off to make it unselectable in the Outliner and you will not be able to select it in the 3D view .
