nice…BTW u spelt ur title wrong…

weird… that looks A LOT like the knife that I just bought the other day 0.0 just the grip isn’t blue and there aren’t any holes around the edge, just four in the grip.

Anyways back on topic… The knife blade looks a little dull (dull as in not shiny, not dull as in not sharp), don’t you think?

Model looks good! the lighting/texturing/scene needs work. Its too dark and the blade’s details cannot be determined - perhaps a reflective texture there? Or maybe a good application for cekhunen’s brushed metal texture… ?

actually this thing in front of me is that way… i don’t know why but the blade part doesn’t reflect at all (i guess its some weird material)

and thanks on the name change thing, i didn’t even notice i spelled “knife” wrong

Likely a glass-bead blasted finish. If so, then your matte material is good, 'cept the lighting should be improved to somehow show its contours better or something…

Whatever you do, please change the ground texture. It makes a sort of optical illusion. You can’t recognize the depth, or perspective. You can’t tell if the knife is laying on the ground, or floating above it, or if the ground is just a background, or what! It’s strange, to put it simply.

Ha ha. A little dull. Ha… anyway, I agree with that statement. Other than what everybody else has said (shiny, change ground texture,) I think some sort of texture on the knife grip would really give it a bit more realism – unless the grip is just plastic. Also, if the lighting was not so even, it would bring your eye to the subject more, instead of the background. Would you consider lighting it from the ‘side’, i.e, as if it were sunset lighting (coloured or not, your choice of course). That may give a bit more depth to the image - the knife itself and the image in general. And, it would add more shadows.

hhmm…let me try to re render this thing to see what happens

nice, but maybe mirror and ref to the knife

mirror what? and ref what?

Maybe and Env Map?

@Vitality: Ray-Mir and high reflective values.
In other words: more specularity, and reflections

But I think he means there’s nothing to reflect… am I right?
