A mouse

Started modeling this little thing today and it seems no matter how hard i try it doesn’t look like a mouse (enough) :frowning: any help would be great
also for future reference how do i get static particles to come out of the mouses face but not the nose and how to i make the hair shorter inside the ears any tut or quick explanation on this would be helpful.

Get rid of the overbite, and just gently slope upwards towards a smaller nose.
In short, make the face shorter taller and fatter. Hope this helps, characters aren’t my strong suit…

looks cool to me kinda like smiling to me but the nose i really to flat …

haha that’d look so cool with a smaller nose. I agree, reduce the overbite and then i think it would be fine.

lol, cool cartoony character

Ahhhh dang i lost most of my work and couldn’t recover the last session so I’m back to square one.:frowning: Thanx for the replies and i will put them into practice into my next model:)
Still need help with the particles so if any one could direct me to a good tut would be mighty helpful

cheers posts soon

if you want it a bit more mouselike, you’d have to make the areas at the front of the muzzle taper in towards the nose, not out away from it… However, cartoonish recreations are widely open to modification, and with a well-sculpted body, nobody would really care anyway.

Just a thought… I love how friendly it looks.

Heres some more updates gettin more and more mouse like just the arms and maybe some more teeth. ANY crits before i go further on modeling would be GREAT plz do!

The nose seems too prominent and the eyes too big for it to be a mouse. A mouses nose doesn’t really stick out…

On another note, the feet are what really bother me. The toes aren’t separated and mice have kind of long skinny toes with very very small claws if any. I recommend you search on Google images mouse animal. If you type just mouse you’ll get a bunch of computer mouses.

he is cute and instantly recognizable as a rodent. I agree on the feet, the need to be re-worked. Also, I don’t think you should add more teeth. It seems that skinny arms would fit the style best.

Any other help before i go any further

don’t make the legs too thin; despite the cartoony feel of the piece, I think it would be a bit more finished-looking if the legs could at least semi-support the weight of the body.

You might want to bring the middle toe out, too… all three across in a straight line’s a bit awkward.

looking good though!

Nate

been busy of late but ive done the arms and their ready for crits and i added some more teeth plus im about to change the legs due to poular demand thanks for all your help guys:D . Glad to hear some of you are liking my mouse so far thanks and keep the crits comin’

I dont know the best way to put fur on him.
I’ve tried using static particles but i cant put enough on him, so i tried limiting the hairs to certain vgroup but then I realised you can only have one set of static particles, but to me that doesn’t sound right so basiclly, I’m stumped.
Please Help!

Hey Hubble! I really like your mouse he looks really cool … hehe … quite a little character. I know in Tony Mullens book he describes on how to controll the amount of static particles and the different lengths thereof in different places, but that’s where I’m at myself at the moment so I’m still learning how to do it also. Surely there must be some more details on fur in the wiki?

Good luck, looks great!

He again … you’ve probably seen this tutorial but here it is again anyway: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=303334

Also I think bugman_2000 used weight painting in his book for Capt. Blender’s hair, damn I need to get back into studying it … I’m just amazed you haven’t had any advice from the pro’s here yet on the particle fur.

Yea me too im startin to feel like my works just crap and no one has any interest in it thanks for the tut though, but had seen it tis a good one though
