A newbie question about 2080ti

Hey all!

I’m about to build a PC for blender with 2 GPUs and I’m considering the 2080ti.
Being a hardware newbie I’m wondering what the difference is between the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Ventus OC 11GB and the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Ventus 11GB?
At the moment the OC version is cheaper at the place I’m looking at buying from.
Would I benefit more from having the non-OC version?

Thanks a ton!

OC means it’s marketed as overclocked, which means it’s supposed to have better overclockability, meaning higher performance.

Ah, I suspected it meant overclocked.
Thanks!

So there’s no downside choosing that one, right?

You can probably google both of them and have tens of reviews outlining pros and cons much better than I ever could.

You mean to say it’s factory overclocked, but yes, it likely has a better binning too.

^This.
GPU manufacturers organize the chips according to their quality (=binning) and they overclock them to a frequency that is achievable by all the chips of the group. Each group is given a name according to overclocking performance (the various implementations by the manufacturer). The good thing about factory overclocks is that the gpu comes with the warranty of the manufacturer intact, and the OC is guarantied.
So, @Natrius if you find the OC version at a better price, go for it. You’re buying a better gpu with less money.
The difference between these two MSI cards is the boost clock: 1635MHz vs 1545MHz.
