A peaceful interior, room full of books.

Hello.

Here’s my attempt to kind of arch-viz (the field I am mostly interested in when it comes to 3DCGA).
Please share your comments about every aspect, I’d love to know what to improve in order to make it look more realistic.

thank you very much

Personally i don’t find any particular defects! There are no curtains…then probably you can add more details to the fixtures (doors and windows). The first 3-4 meters are with no particular details, but probably is good so the eyes will focus on the bookcases. I would change the image(and maybe the room) proportions, at example 4:3 or maybe even something like the proportions of the bookshelf. Then you can also try different lightings; the lamp on with all that light coming from outside is not convincing, at least to me.

Thank you very much mik1190. The reason I made the lamp turned on was to demonstrade the soft translucency of the material I used for the lampshade

once again, I appreciate your comments!

Looks great in my opinion, but I agree with mik1190 about the lamp. I understand you want to show the lamp shade, but I don’t think the yellow square lighting on the floor should be that visible with all that light coming through the windows.

I would try turning on a focused lamp in full daylight at home to get some reference, then try to mimic in blender.

Thank you very much for suggestion, I will definitely try that out at home.
I am very happy you like it though!

Really Good:yes:
Only flaw I can find is that there is some noise, in that bright situations real photos don’t really have any noise.
(just wondering what it would look like at night with some bluish light coming in from windows and your lamp lighting the interior:eyebrowlift2:)

Overall i loved it. It gets you! only observation i think it will make it more believable is that the lamp is to bright on the bottom from my point of view, since the overall lighting should opaque the lamp lights.

You’ve done a real nice job on this, one thing is there is a lot of repeating of the books, it probably wouldn’t have stuck out to me as much, if it wasn’t for that book with yellow at the top and light blue at the bottom. But I know it is a tough thing because you had to fill up those shelves with a lot of books.

But you’ve added a lot of nice details which adds to the scene, I wondering if you thought about showing something outside the windows?

i like it… only the title is not accurate  , i mean “full” of books is what my rooms look like, i own more than 2000, stopped counting…lol… kidding aside, its really a lovely place you created for reading.

Thanks for all comments & advices guys. I will remember them for sure when creating my next projects!

Sorry for the double post, but…

I am proud to announce, that my work was honorably mentioned by the jury (which mainly consisted of BFCTs - including the producers and creators of the “Tears of Steel” movie, Francesco Siddi and Sebastian Koenig) on the competition which took place during “Yet Another Blender Conference” in Gdynia, 1-2 June 2013!

Thanks again!

At first I though that was just a picture! Very well done!
