Hello, guys!
I have a question about the Light Paths render settings of Cycles. When I change the values of any of them from very low to very high, I am not able to detect any noticeable difference in the render time, nor the render result itself. Am I missing something? I’ve tried different values for global transparency and bounces, as well as diffuse, glossy and transmission, yet they seem to make no difference at all. Aren’t these settings supposed to give better looking (and longer taking) renders with higher values, and vice versa?
I am using CPU-only rendering.
As the info-tip says, diffuse, glossy and transmission values are bounded by “total maximum”. I suppose this “total maximum” is determined by the values of “transparency” and “bounces”. Is that correct? Or am I misunderstanding it all?
It expected if scene setup have low bounce number, as cube on plain. Try indoor scene with bright almost 1.0 walls instead.
Transparency bounces are very special, it used only when “Shadow” checkbox is on, and during direct light shadow probe only. So, basically, they are independent.
